Testing & Quality
Last updated: June 2026
At One Life Foods, quality starts before a product ever reaches the shelf.
We work with selected suppliers, manufacturers and production partners who provide product specifications, assay reports, certificates of analysis or other quality documentation where relevant. We review this information as part of our product approval and quality-control process.
For certain products, we also carry out independent testing ourselves. Our Shilajit products are independently tested, and we are working towards extending independent testing to our mushroom products as part of our ongoing quality programme.
Our approach is simple: better ingredients, clearer information and no unnecessary mystery.
Our Quality Approach
We believe supplement quality should be built on a few core principles:
-
responsible sourcing;
-
supplier due diligence;
-
product specifications and quality documentation;
-
appropriate manufacturing standards;
-
sensible formulation;
-
label transparency;
-
product-specific testing where required;
-
realistic claims;
-
ongoing supplier review.
Not every product requires the same type of testing, but every product should be handled with care, checked against appropriate quality standards and presented honestly.
Supplier Documentation
Our suppliers and manufacturing partners provide quality documentation where relevant to the product or ingredient.
This may include:
-
certificates of analysis;
-
assay reports;
-
product specifications;
-
ingredient specifications;
-
microbiological testing;
-
heavy metal testing;
-
identity or purity information;
-
allergen statements;
-
manufacturing or quality-system documentation.
The exact documentation varies depending on the ingredient, product type, supplier and manufacturing process.
We do not usually publish full unredacted supplier documents because they may contain commercially sensitive information, including supplier names, contact details, batch routes, manufacturing details or proprietary supply-chain information.
Where appropriate, we may share summaries, redacted documents or relevant testing information without exposing confidential supplier details.
Independent Testing
Independent testing is most valuable where a product has a higher need for verification because of its natural variability, sourcing complexity or risk profile.
At present, One Life Foods independently tests its Shilajit products.
Shilajit is a natural material, so quality, purification and contaminant screening are especially important. For this reason, we place particular focus on independent analysis, composition and safety screening for our Shilajit range.
Going forward, we are also working towards independent testing for our mushroom products.
Shilajit Testing
Shilajit can vary significantly depending on origin, purification, processing and batch.
For our Shilajit products, we place particular importance on:
-
origin and sourcing;
-
purification;
-
composition;
-
fulvic and humic profile where relevant;
-
heavy metal screening;
-
contaminant screening;
-
realistic product information.
We believe Shilajit should be sold with clear information and sensible claims, not exaggerated numbers, vague origin stories or marketing theatre.
Mushroom Product Testing
Functional mushrooms are another category where quality matters.
Mushroom products can vary depending on species, extraction method, beta-glucan content, growing material, fruiting body or mycelium use, and supplier standards.
As part of our ongoing quality programme, we are working towards independent testing for our mushroom range.
Our aim is to provide clearer quality information for mushroom products as this programme develops.
Ingredient Sourcing
We aim to use ingredients that make sense for the product, rather than chasing trends for the sake of it.
Depending on the product, this may include considering:
-
ingredient origin;
-
supplier reputation;
-
specification documents;
-
purity and identity information;
-
allergen information;
-
nutritional profile;
-
manufacturing method;
-
suitability for the intended use.
Where origin or standardisation matters, we aim to provide clear product information so customers can make an informed choice.
Manufacturing Standards
Our products are produced by selected manufacturing and packing partners who are expected to follow appropriate food and supplement manufacturing standards.
Depending on the product and supplier, this may include systems such as GMP, HACCP, ISO-based quality management or other recognised food-safety and production controls.
The exact standards, checks and documentation may vary by product type, ingredient and manufacturing partner.
Label Transparency
We want customers to know what they are taking.
Where possible, we avoid unnecessary proprietary blends and unclear dosing. We aim to provide straightforward ingredient information, serving guidance and product directions so customers can understand how a product fits into their routine.
Always read the product label before use, as packaging, directions, warnings and formulations may occasionally change.
Why We May Not Publish Full Supplier Reports
We understand that customers value transparency. We do too.
However, full supplier documents can contain commercially sensitive information, including supplier identities, pricing routes, batch routes, technical specifications or proprietary manufacturing details.
For this reason, we may redact or summarise documents before sharing them publicly.
This allows us to provide useful quality information while protecting our supply chain and commercial relationships.
No Miracle Claims
We do not believe in miracle promises.
Supplements can support a healthy routine, but they are not a replacement for a varied, balanced diet, proper hydration, sleep, training, recovery or medical care.
Our goal is to provide well-considered products with honest information, not overblown claims.
Product Safety
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
Do not exceed the stated recommended daily intake.
Keep products out of the sight and reach of children.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, under medical supervision, have a medical condition, have allergies, or are unsure whether a product is suitable, speak to a doctor, pharmacist or qualified healthcare professional before use.
